Rising Stars: Jamie Margolin

01 11 2019

Jamie Margolin, a 17 year old American activist and member of the Junior State of America, co-founded the youth climate action organisation, Zero Hour, at 15, after finding it difficult to breathe in her native Seattle as a result of Canadian wildfires.

Having initiated the official 2018 Youth Climate Marches in Washington DC and 25 cities around the world, Margolin also organised revolutionary educational campaigns and new voting initiatives to help combat and demand action on climate change. Her writing has featured in publications including HuffPost and CNN, and in 2018 she was named one of Teen Vogue’s 21 Under 21: Girls Who Are Changing the World, and is one of the BBC's 100 Most Influential Women of 2019. On November 3, Margolin was honoured with the MTV EMA 2019 Generation Change Award during the ceremony’s red carpet pre-show in Seville, Spain, and her debut book, Youth To Power: Your Voice and How To Use It, is released next year.
